You need to know

What is the fire alarm sound in your building

When do you evacuate

Where are the stairwells

Do you have a staging area

The Benefits.......

A fire safety plan is designed to provide occupant safety in the event of a fire, and to ensure proper use of the fire safety features of the building.

Fire safety plans are only EFFECTIVE if management understand the plan and implements the plan with building occupants.

What happen's in your building when the fire alarm sounds? The truthful answer to this question in most buildings in NOTHING.

Most people do not respond to fire alarms. If anything, you may ask another person what to do, or call building security and ask that annoying question....'why is the alarm sounding.. or ..what should I do...and the dumbest of all....is this a real fire..'

If the plan is implemented and occupants informed, trained, and full evacuation fire drills are held at least every 12 months then some of these questions and concerns will be answered.

Here is an easy activity, walk around your office area and follow the EXIT signs..see EXIT SIGNwhere they take you. You should be directed to a stairwell exit. In some office areas you are directed to a dead end, elevator lobby.

Do you know the alarm signal in your buildng?

Do you have a two stage or single stage fire alarm system?

You need to know this to ensure your safety in the event of a fire alarm. You do not want to be evacuating the building when you not in the DANGER area.
